Shelagh joined The Southern Group bringing more than 25 years of experience in public policy, political strategy, and advocacy at the federal and state levels. She advises clients on navigating complex health care policy and regulatory environments, with a focus on advancing innovative products and solutions and driving meaningful policy outcomes.

Throughout her career, Shelagh has developed and executed comprehensive advocacy strategies that integrate federal and state lobbying, grassroots engagement, and political strategy. She is known for identifying emerging health care policy trends, preparing clients for evolving regulatory landscapes, and aligning policy objectives with broader organizational goals.

Prior to joining Polsinelli in 2022, Shelagh spent nearly two decades with the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), where she led government relations, policy development, and advocacy efforts. In that role, she directed engagement with Congress, federal agencies, and state legislatures, shaping policies impacting cancer care nationwide. She has also represented providers across a range of health care sectors, including home health and durable medical equipment.

In addition to her work in oncology, Shelagh has a passion for women’s health and civil rights issues, , bringing a broad and mission-driven perspective to her policy work.

Shelagh received her Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston and is a member of the Massachusetts bar. Shelagh currently lives in Arlington, Virginia with her husband and two sons.
