TEAM / Eddie Metzger

Eddie Metzger joined The Southern Group in 2026 after more than 16 years of helping clients navigate complex policy environments across Florida. 

Eddie began his career in the Florida House of Representatives as a legislative aid, where he developed a strong foundation in the legislative process while working closely with lawmakers, staff, and stakeholders to advance policy initiatives. 

He later served as State Legislative Director for TECO Energy and Ygrene Energy, where he led advocacy efforts on issues related to energy, infrastructure, and sustainability. His work focused on shaping policy, engaging with regulators and elected officials, and advancing initiatives aligned with evolving energy and economic development priorities. 

Prior to joining the firm, Eddie founded Coastline Strategies, where he represented a diverse client base including energy companies, developers, builders, and nonprofit organizations. Known for his ability to build bipartisan relationships and align stakeholder interests, he has successfully helped clients navigate regulatory frameworks and secure support for key initiatives. 

Eddie is active in his community and has served on several boards and committees across Southwest Florida. He was recognized as a “40 Under 40” honoree by the Naples Herald and is a graduate of the Growing Associates in Naples (GAIN) program.
